Michelin Guide 2021

This is our fourth consecutive year in the Michelin Guide and we’re absolutely thrilled that our hard work has once again been recognised with this prestigious accolade.

A Michelin Plate is the symbol for those restaurants that are featured in the Michelin Guide but have neither a star nor a Bib Gourmand. It symbolises a very good standard of food in a restaurant and is judged using the same five criteria used for starred and Bib Gourmand restaurants. Many restaurants start off entering the guide with a Plate and moving up to a star in the future.

All Michelin Guide inspections are completely anonymous and we only find out they have visited when we receive word of our award. Encouraging readers to divert their route off the M6 to visit our village pub in Staffordshire, the Michelin inspectors went on to describe The Red Lion as, “an airy bar, a conservatory, a snug and a dining room hung with photos of the pub through the ages. Menus offer plenty of choice, with hearty, flavoursome dishes ranging from sticky braised beef to curry-spiced salmon Kiev.”
